My goal is to support people in creating their own medicines and living a healthy lifestyle in sync with nature. My hope is to empower people to manage their health more naturally at home and to decrease our reliance on Western medicine where we can.
Join Melissa Brodd- Nurse, Energy Medicine Practitioner, and Herbalist from Alder Song Integrative Healing, and a small group of herbal community minded folk who wish to build their knowledge for living a seasonal lifestyle using herbs as medicine. Join in learning to grow, gather, dry, store, & use Western herbs for beginning magical and medicinal purposes. We gather together each season in a private home in Central Tacoma or a selected outdoor location. Each week the month of meeting, we will focus on three plants and create medicine or wildcraft together to assemble your home apothecary. Introduction to:
incorporating herbal plants into your garden, window boxes, and porch containers
sharing sources of reliable quality bulk or retail herbs & oils
planning & assembling your own home apothecary space, tools, & supplies
wildcrafting safely in your neighborhood
gathering, drying & storing harvested herbs
making external and internal folk medicines for home use
using herbs for magical practice for self-care
This class is for people who are accepting of children being present in the learning environment. It is a community style class for anyone who fosters a family style gathering so we may be inclusive of parents with children. Classes build on each other, but you can join at the beginning of any season. Class size is limited to 6 adults plus children. This allows a month of gathering in a supportive group together at a slower pace. The months off give you time to work independently on your own at your own pace.
Cost is $80 for each season or $300 for the year.
Classes are held Fridays 10 am-noon on the months of April, July, October, January.
