I grew up in the Snoqualmie Valley in the Pacific Northwest. The wild woods and riverbanks were my backyard. At an early age, I had a connection with nature. I could hear the whispering songs of trees and plants that surrounded me. I have always loved to be in nature, whether it be hiking through the rain forests, traveling to foreign lands, trekking deep in the cascade mountains, or cultivating my own medicinal herb garden. I also love to fix old things, sew, cook, work in my wood shop, and honor other traditional skills. I am a military wife and a mother of a highly spirited child.
Life Experience Although I lived in a beautiful place, I had challenges growing up. I watched both my parents suffer from addictions and we lived a very unhealthy life. I ate poor food, I lived in a moldy house, I had chronic health problems, and I had some difficult teenage years where I was in an abusive relationship. I was so stressed, I developed asthma and chronic pneumonia. My immune system was so depressed, I developed a rare eye disease losing some of my eyesight in one of my eyes. I also had chronic inflammation and all that went with it-insomnia, pain, fatigue, anxiety, "all in your head, nothing wrong with you" syndrome, if you have it, you know what I mean! After all of this, I realized I really had to get better, so I went to nursing school to better my life and do good things.
I became an Emergency Room Nurse wanting to help people in crisis. Well, medicine is great at saving lives, fixing bones, antibiotics for infections, and various other amazing things. I am so grateful for the doctors who saved my life and my eyesight, but what I realized is healing from chronic health problems or mental health, Western medicine does not offer what is needed to really heal deep within. I believed there were ways of escaping the revolving door of healthcare. I became determined to learn about as many alternative medical practices as I could. I found that Energy Medicine practices, based on ancient ways of healing in EVERY culture, was the most profound in healing both deep within and in the physical body.
I chose to study Healing Touch Energy Medicine since it is supported by science and nursing. This changed my life in so many ways! I am continuously healing physical and emotional trauma to my body, but my healing process has been even deeper in so many personal ways. I have seen many people manage their illness or even heal mystery illnesses. It often takes time and it is not always a quick fix (except the back problem, seriously gone in one treatment for me!). I have developed a spiritual way of life that is not religious dogma but rudimentary knowledge of the unseen and embrace of the the mystery of our existence. I have developed a relationship with my ancestors, plant and nature spirits, and The Divine in a magical way. Today, I continue to find more meaning in life and I am full of gratitude.
I have completed a three year certification process in the accredited and respected Energy Medicine modality of Healing Touch.
I have studied Integrative Health and Lifestyles through the University of Arizona. This program teaches health care professionals how to integrate lifestyle changes such as aromatherapy, sleep, nutrition, environment, meditation, mindfulness, herbs and supplements use for optimal health.
